Four Takeaways From the 49ers’ 23-20 Week 12 Win Against Rams

The bye week could not have come at a more perfect time for the 49ers.

This team desperately needed to rest and regroup to prepare themselves for their final playoff push. And boy, did they start off their push on the right foot with a win on the road against the surging Rams.

It wasn’t the prettiest of wins given all of the turnovers, but there was some impressive execution out there by the 49ers.

Here are four takeaways from the 49ers’ 23-20 Week 12 win against the Rams.

Richard Sherman has not lost a step

Richard Sherman has been missing in action since injuring his calf back in Week 1 against the Cardinals. The injury was concerning since it was the same leg which he tore his Achilles. When the 49ers announced Sherman would be active against the Rams, I believed it was best to bring him along slowly.

Notre Dame’s Ian Book changing narrative of his pro potential

Even with cancelled games and missed opportunities for draft prospects, our weekly “Winners and losers” column rolls on. Here are the prospects who impressed us this past weekend — and those who came up a bit short.

Winners

Notre Dame QB Ian Book

For a few weeks now, my stock answer for what kind of prospect Book will be has been to default to former North Dakota State QB and 2019 Los Angeles Chargers fifth-rounder Easton Stick. It felt like a fair assessment.

Book entered the season with mostly mid-to-late Day 3 grades, and his smaller frame and sometimes hectic style figured to always limit his widespread appeal. Now, however, following a string of really impressive performances (including the past three games against Clemson, Boston College and North Carolina), I was ready to revise that comp.

After all, Book completed 23 of 33 passes against the Tar Heels for 279

The Choice Of Vitamin C For Today’s Lifestyle

Vitamin C, also known by its scientific name ascorbic acid, is an important nutrient for good health. Our body needs it for immune function, bone structure, iron absorption and healthy skin.

Vitamin C is also known to be a strong antioxidant that can protect tissue against oxidative damage caused by free radicals and help prevent or reverse cellular damage.

In a retrospective analysis of critically ill Covid-19 patients in Malaysia, researchers found that high dose Vitamin C, being an antioxidant, may have the propensity to mitigate severe oxidative stress to keep lung injury minimal besides preventing other organ failures.(1) Patients who received high dose Vitamin C treatment saw improvement of respiratory function.

A 2019 review showed that high-dose vitamin C therapy can benefit individuals admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) for critical diseases by decreasing the period of ICU stay by 8% and shortening the time of mechanical ventilation by

Food delivery apps are booming, while their workers often struggle.

With New York City’s unemployment rate at 13.2 percent, many people have turned to working for food delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub, which have seen huge demand from customers.

While delivery drivers have been essential to feeding New Yorkers and keeping them safe, their working conditions, already precarious before the pandemic, have gotten worse.

Even as the food delivery companies have seen sales surge, the workers’ pay has remained erratic. Because the drivers are independent workers, they are not entitled to a minimum wage, overtime or any other benefits, like health insurance. Undocumented immigrants, who are not eligible for unemployment or federal coronavirus assistance, make up the bulk of the work force in New York.

The added competition from the surge in new workers has compounded the financial challenges. Advocacy groups estimate that there were roughly 50,000 delivery workers before the pandemic — a number they say

Drew Lock could end up paying biggest price for QB quagmire

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Their quarantined quarterback quartette sure left the Denver Broncos in, shall we say, quite the quagmire.

The NFL made the Broncos play without any QBs Sunday, and their 31-3 loss to the Saints serves as a embarrassing example for other teams not to violate the NFL’s COVID-19 mitigation measures.

The Broncos (4-7) are expected to face a hefty fine and loss of a draft pick as a repeat offender of the league’s coronavirus rules, but it’s Drew Lock who could pay the biggest price for goofing up.

Lock has now started 13 games and missed 14 in his moonwalk of an NFL career.

A day after saying he was disappointed his QBs put them in a difficult spot, coach Vic Fangio said Monday the organization’s faith in Lock hasn’t been shaken by this ugly episode.

Lock’s leadership traits, however, will be tested anew in December because
