E-sports: Singapore to host US$300,000 M2 World Championship in January, Sport News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – The world’s top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) players will set foot in Singapore from Jan 18-24, with the Republic set to host the MLBB M2 World Championship behind closed doors.

Teams will compete for a prize purse of US$300,000 (S$402,210) at the Shangri-La Hotel with the necessary Covid-19 measures in place.

The M2 World Championship is co-organised by Mobile Legends game developer Moonton and the Singapore’s Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (Scoga) with the support of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Mobile Legends is a mobile multi-player online battle arena game in which two opposing teams battle to destroy the enemy’s base while defending their own base and the teams vie for control of a path, which connects the bases.

South Korea’s annual League of Legends KeSPA Cup returns this December, inviting all ten teams of the LCK. The KeSPA Cup 2020 will be the sixth LoL tournament organized by the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA).

Pakistan’s first national e-sports tournament to take place in March: Fawad Chaudhry


Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister of Science and Technology, has announced that a national level esports will take place in March 2021 in Islamabad. The federal minister was being interviewed by Waqar Zaka for the latter’s YouTube channel when he made the announcement. The renowned TV Show host and media personality is a gamer himself and has previously advocated for government initiatives on gaming and recently urged the government to lift the ban on PUBG.

The federal minister asked Waqar Zaka to host the tournament himself, to which Zaka asked for assurance the bureaucracy wouldn’t interfere in the tournament taking place. Fawad Chaudhry Announces National E-Sports Tournament in March

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, has announced a national-level e-sports competition in Islamabad in March next year. He made the announcement while speaking with TV host and Vlogger Waqar Zaka on Thursday.

Zaka, who himself has been advocating and promoting the gaming industry’s national talent, approached the minister to convince him.

AF Services Center debuts Air Force Gaming | Arctic Warrior

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas (AFNS) — Air Force Gaming made its official debut Nov. 11 under the Air Force Services Center with a new intramural e-sports program.

Teams at eight Air Force Global Strike Command bases are competing in a pilot program to crown the gaming champions of the command.

AFGSC Airmen and Space Professionals also from the command, will participate in the program with teams formed to compete with each base hosting playoffs and base championships before the final major command championship. The pilot program is running through mid-December. AFSVC plans to expand the Air Force Gaming League to all Air and Space Force installations in January.

Air Force Gaming is focused on supporting Air Force and Space Force resiliency and retention efforts through the creation of a global e-sports program that brings Airmen and Space Professionals together through community experiences and competitive leagues.

Adelophi senior business major George Adamou is one of the world’s top-ranked players of the FIFA soccer video games. He’s already earning money doing it, and now he’s considering esports as a career.

After an injury took him off the soccer field, Adamou, 20, had to find a new outlet for his passion for the sport. The senior business management student at Adelphi’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business found it playing FIFA soccer video games.
