When will fight start and how can I watch it?

Billy Joe Saunders looks to keep momentum in his bid to secure a super fight in 2021 with his first fight since the Covid-19 pandemic, which cost him an opportunity against Canelo Alvarez.

The WBO super middleweight world champion remains unbeaten but after the pandemic postponed his fight, the Mexican superstar agreed to fight domestic rival Callum Smith, who owns the WBC title at 168 pounds.

British veteran Martin Murray is Saunders’ opponent at the SSE Arena this evening, with the pair supposed to have fought years ago but for an injury to Saunders.

Should Saunders impress, then Canelo may revisit a potential fight against him in 2021, though Murray is likely to throw everything at him in his final opportunity at this level from a great career that has seen the biggest prize prove illusive.

Mansfield Summit overcomes bizarre path to playoffs with fast start against Birdville in 38-24 win

Click here to view the box score

MANSFIELD — Mansfield Summit could not control the bizarre set of circumstances that put it in position to clinch a playoff berth Thursday night.

But Summit could control what happened in a football game that it had to win to get into the postseason. The Jaguars took care of business — after an unusual start at Vernon Newsom Stadium.

Summit had a 14-point lead before it ran its first offensive play of the game, and the Jaguars went on to beat Birdville 38-24 in the regular-season finale to earn the final playoff spot from District 4-5A Division I. Summit will open the playoffs against District 3-5A Division I champion Abilene Cooper at 7 p.m. next Friday at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene.

“It’s been a crazy season,” Summit coach Channon Hall said. “Our kids have been resilient. It’s win or go home from this

Fantasy Football Week 13 Start ‘Em & Sit ‘Em: David Montgomery ready for another big game

In all the years that I’ve been writing this Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em column, it’s the first time that I’ve been doing it with a game happening. I’m currently watching the Ravens-Steelers game as I’m writing this sentence, and it’s kind of cool. Maybe we’ll get more Wednesday games in the future? Probably not.

While the 2020 season has been wacky because of COVID-19, the good thing is the NFL has been flexible in making sure every game gets played. It hasn’t always been easy, and Fantasy managers have had to juggle a lot of things in setting your lineups. The final stretch of the season will likely have more twists and turns, but we’re near the end. In fact, this is the final week of the regular season in many Fantasy leagues.

Hopefully, this is the week you will clinch a playoff berth or lock up a potential

UW men’s basketball team opens Pac-12 play against Utah, looking to bounce back after 0-2 start

The Husky men’s basketball team will play a Pac-12 game in early December, marking its earliest conference game.

Washington’s league opener at Utah, set for 3 p.m. Thursday, originated last year when the conference added two games to expand to a 20-game schedule in an effort to reduce lopsided nonconference matchups and bolster competitiveness throughout the league.

At the time, conference leaders couldn’t have anticipated navigating a college basketball season during a coronavirus pandemic that’s created several unprecedented challenges.

Case in point, Washington (0-2) had its four-game tournament canceled last week and scheduled a pair of last-minute games in Las Vegas before taking a six-hour bus ride from Sin City to Utah.

However, the Huskies’ misadventures pale in comparison to the Utes, who had to suspend team activities Nov. 13 due to a coronavirus outbreak.

Last week, Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said he tested positive for COVID-19 along with nine

5 burning questions as moves start

SportsPulse: Dan Wolken reacts to the second College Football Playoff rankings and believes Ohio State can get into the playoff without qualifying for the Big Ten championship game given the committee’s track record.

With a pair of Power Five jobs open already at South Carolina and Vanderbilt and more to come as the college football season winds down, the coaching carousel promises to be more robust than most people within the industry expected a few months ago.

How much more? That’s still an open question, as COVID-19 hasn’t halted frustration among fans and administrators at underachieving programs such as Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas and Virginia Tech to name a few.

But the financial ramifications and optics of making expensive coaching moves this year, as athletic departments and universities generally are cutting budgets, are very real for schools that have had to absorb a significant revenue hit. On

Marshawn Lynch reveals what his superstition was before the start of NFL games

Athletes are superstitious people. Many players have obscure rituals that they partake in prior to taking the field in various sports. During a recent segment on “Peyton’s Places,” former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch revealed the superstition he used to take part in: taking a shot of Hennessy before taking the field in an effort to calm his nerves.

“My superstition was that I needed to have maybe a shot, a shot and half before every game,” Lynch said during the segment.

When Manning asked him to clarify what the shot was, Lynched replied, “Hennessy… what you mean ‘of?’

Peyton followed up by asking if there was a bar of sorts in the Seahawks locker room during Lynch’s playing days. Lynch hilariously responded by saying, “The bar’s in my backpack.”

Lynch has always been quite the personality both on and off the field, which is what makes this exchange
